The
workshop will be held at the Marconi
Conference Center in northern California (just 90 minutes
northwest of San Francisco). The Center will provide housing,
meals, and workshop facilities. There is internet access in the
hotel rooms and the business center, and modems in the conference
rooms.
Getting
there: As many of you will be coming directly from a conference
in Santa Barbara, we encourage you to voluntarily to make carpool
arrangements -- the center is 90 miles from the San Francisco
airport, so sharing rental cars is advised..
Shuttles
from the airport: There are 2 shuttle services: Marin Door-to-Door
(1-800-540-4815) $110 one way for first person, $12 each add'l
person; or M&M Luxury Airport Shuttle (1-800-286-0303) $150 one
way to charter 7 passenger van.
Depending
on the size of the workshop, some participants may have to double-up
in rooms and/or stay at local motels.
This
workshop is being sponsored by the Caltech/MIT
Voting Technology Project (which is itself sponsored by
the Carnegie Foundation).
We hope to have funding to cover local expenses (room and board)
of participants staying at the Marconi
Conference Center, and to be able to cover meals at the
conference center for those staying elsewhere. If we do not obtain
funding, participant will be asked to cover these expenses, which
is (very) approximately $200/day per person.
